photo 2-51Here’s a thoughtful and fun gift for the person who taught you children so much. This my kids year they picked-out GMO-free, pesticide-free, hardy dwarf cherry trees for their teachers at the local farmers market. – See more at: http://love-trees.com/teacher-gift-idea-thank-helping-grow-free-printable-gift-tags-tree-tags/#sthash.1pff2XRn.dpuf

My daughter used a kitchen spoon to add potting soil and the trees to mason jars. Make sure the root plug is small enough to fit in the mason jar before purchasing. The we tied a ribbon around the jar and printed out the tree tags, glued information about the tree species and care of the tree to the back of the tree tag and slipped the jars into pretty recycled bags to make it easier for the children to carry their trees to school. We secured the tree tag to the bag but you could also add it to the ribbon around the tree.

Thank You For Helping Me Grow free printables can be downloaded HERE. Simply print in color on recycled card stock or paper, cut out and punch a hole in the corner for ribbon or twine.

Teachers can keep their trees in the jar for a while but the jar will fill with roots so they may want to transplant to a larger pot or their garden right away, otherwise they will have to break the glass to get it out.

“One looks back with appreciation to the brilliant teachers, but with gratitude to those who touched our human feelings. The curriculum is so much necessary raw material, but warmth is the vital element for the growing plant and for the soul of the child.” ~ Carl Jung
